A senior prank turned to serious vandalism, causing thousands of dollars of damage to Rosebud-Lott High School last night.
A group of students are accused of lifting keys to the campus, then sneaking inside overnight to paint on the walls, pour liquids all over the floors and leave a live hog in a classroom.
As they tried to leave their mark, they left others with lots of questions.
The scene of disarray was not what Juliana Santos Delima expected on her first day back to school after a semester away.
"It's something horrible, everybody here works hard to get what we have, and I think it's really disrespectful that they did that," said Santos Delima.
Crews cleaned paint, oil and soap off the floors and walls, while students crowded the gym for three hours.
"It was just really chaotic, because we didn't know what to do. We didn't know if we were going to stay all day," Santos Delima said.
The walls were repainted, but some stains wouldn't come up, tarnishing a campus Superintendent Anthony Price worked years to fix up.
"I even got their input on what do ya'll want, and we did those things, and to come in this morning and see those things torn up, it was heartbreaking," said Price.
The vandals covered security cameras with shaving cream, but determined to find who caused the estimated $10 thousand in damages, Price offered a $1,000 reward for their names.
"Considering our district, it's a pretty big blow to us. We try and use all the resources that are available to us for the betterment of our students," Price said.
11 students now face the consequences for the prank that went too far, while others try to make sense of it.
"It was just really chaotic, and I wish we hadn't had to go through that," Santos Delima said.
The students involved are expected to be charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a third degree felony.
Price says they will likely face suspension and possibly be placed in an alternative learning center.
The school plans to pay for the damage by either working it into the budget or seeking restitution from the families.
