HUNTINGTON, TX (KYTX) -- A Zavalla man has been arrested after he admitted to slicing the throat of a puppy outside the home of his ex-girlfriend.
Jeremy Spencer, 30, was arrested on New Year's Eve for the incident, which took place December 15 outside a home on Gibson Street in Huntington. Spencer's girlfriend of two months, Ashley Blair, told police the two had a fight that night and she asked him to leave, at which point she asked him to take the puppy with him. Minutes later, Blair came out to find the puppy with a throat wound, gasping for air.
The puppy survived and is said to be in good condition now, although the injury was very severe.
Spencer is charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals. He is currently in the Angelina County Jail on a $1,500 bond, and faces two years in a state jail for the offense.
