Fire leaves Sislbee family homeless

Firefighters tell 12NewsNow.Com a woman and two children are homeless this morning after a blazed ripped through their Silsbee home Sunday morning.

The fire happened around 5 a.m. at a home in the 1100 block of North 2nd Street.  This is a few blocks from the Silsbee Police Department.

Flames were shooting thorough the roof of the 1-story brick house when firefighters arrived.   Once the flames were contained firefighters learned no one was in the home.  The woman and children who lived at the house were away at the time of the fire.

It took about 45 minutes to put out the fire.

A man at the scene who identified himself as a relative of the woman said he believes the heater caused the fire.  Firefighters have not released an official cause.  A firefighter on the scene told a 12News HD photographer that it appears to have originated somewhere in the attic.

Firefighters were assisted by the Silsbee Police Department.

No injuries were reported.
