A man Lake Charles Police say refused to drop his gun as officers tried to arrest him for a shooting death was indicted on 2 charges Thursday.

Timothy Aaron Dangerfield is indicted on charges of 2nd degree murder and attempted 2nd degree murder  in the September 29, 2011 shooting death of Shacrista Nicole Jones.

According to a news release issued in September by the Lake Charles Police Department, officers were called to 2114 Tulip Street in Lake Charles the night Jones died. The caller told police that a man, later identified as Timothy Aaron Dangerfield, had a loaded gun and had fired the weapon at family members.

Police later found Dangerfield walking west on Tulip Street. As Officers approached Dangerfield, he threatened them with the handgun. Officers ordered him to put the gun down. Dangerfield refused to comply. Officers say they were left no choice but to defend themselves. Dangerfield was shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators say they found that Dangerfield physically attacked his sister, mother and four people.

Police later found a woman, identified as Shacrista Nicole Jones, shot to death at a home on General Patton Street. They determined the homicide was connected to the Tulip Street shooting and charged Dangefrield with her death.
