New charges in woman's death

Posted: Updated:

A man originally charged with manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend is now charged with murder.

The Hardin County grand jury upgraded charges against Clinton West, 29, of Hardin County, after hearing testimony Tuesday about circumstances leading to the death of Nicole Janca, 20, also of Hardin County.  Testimony and details of what was presented this morning are not released.

Prosecutors say Janca died at the hospital November 10, 2010 after she was thrown from a moving vehicle.  They say the couple had an argument after a night of drinking at the TPO Hunting Club in the Honey Island area.

Bond for West is set at $1 Million.

A trial date has not yet been set.
