Teen killed, another critical in Orange County accident

A teenager from Orange County is dead following an early morning accident.

The Department of Public Safety office in Orange tells 12NewsNow.Com the teen was driving a car headed west in the 400 block of Sawmill Road just before 2 a.m. Thursday when he lost control and the car struck a tree.

Troopers say Hipolito Rico Hernandez Jr., 18, of Mauriceville was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County PCT. 2. Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn. 

A passenger from the car, a 16-year-old girl from Vidor, was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.  She is listed in critical condition.
