Tyler native and founder of "The Coasters" has died

(KYTX) - The founder and singer of "The Coasters" who grew up in Tyler has died.

Carl Gardner died yesterday. His niece tells CBS19 he passed away in Florida.  Gardner is known for singing "The Coasters" hits-- "Young Blood," "Yakety Yak" and "Charlie Brown."

The rock and roll hall of famer had been battling congestive heart failure and vascular dementia. Carl Gardner was 83.
