Woodard says Cardinals need to improve passing game

Cardinals have one more tune up before SLC opener

After falling to Coastal Carolina in their season opener, Lamar head coach Ray Woodard said the Cardinals need to improve their passing game and become more consistent on 3rd down.

Lamar let a 14-3 lead slip away in the second half, after RB Kade Harrington ran for over 150 yards and two TD's in the first half.

Harrington was held to 55 yards in the second half as the Cardinals were shut out.

Woodard says Carson Erp will remain the teams starting QB, when they head to Houston to face the Cougars, who are sure to to ranked in the top 10 after their upset win over number three Oklahoma.

Kickoff is set for 11 am Saturday.
