Lumberton's Lloyd is crowned Redfish Champ in Port Arthur

Lumberton angler takes his first series title by over eight pounds

PORT ARTHUR - Jimmy Lloyd of Lumberton had the lead going into the final day of the Elite Redfish Border Wars tournament in Port Arthur and was able to win going away by eight and half pounds.

Lloyd brought in three fish on Day 3 totaling nearly 22 lbs.     2nd Place David Christian of the Woodlands caught the biggest fish of the day at just over 10 lbs, but only landed two for a total of just over 18 lbs.  

Jeff Steckler of Rockport, TX caught the most in the final round with three fish totaling 26 and half lbs.  While the other finalists, Travis Land and Kevin Broussard were shut out and caught no fish.

Lloyd's total was 66.83 lbs.  Christian was second with a total of 58.25 for the three days of fishing.

It was Lloyd's first win on the circuit as an individual and pocketed $15,000 for the win, after finishing 2nd in Galveston last week.
