Newton set for first State Title match in Arlington against an undefeated Gunter squad

Eagles will try to knock off the defending state champs, who have won 31 in a row.

BEAUMONT, TX - After the Newton Eagles were victorious over Boling, 56-28. They find themselves making their first appearance in the state championship game since 2014 with one team standing in their way. Gunter rides a 31-game winning streak that brings a powerful running game that carried the Tigers to a 56-27 victory over Canadian. Tiger's quarterback Daylan Bower ran for four touchdowns and all 63 plays by Gunter were on the ground. The two teams will matchup on Thursday at 7 PM at AT&T Stadium.
