Lumberton is ready for district opener against PNG

Lumberton is hoping to beat PNG for only the second time in school history Friday night.

Thanks to Livingston being a late addition to 22-5A the district race officially gets underway Friday night. One team expected to be in the thick of the playoff race all season long is Lumberton.

The Raiders, coming of a 59-9 thumping of Hamshire-Fannett, will take their shot against Port Neches-Groves this week. The 22nd-ranked Indians are a perfect (2-0) with lopsided victories over Silsbee and Goose Creek Memorial.

Lumberton is also undefeated, but they only have the win over Hamshire-Fannett under their belt. In week one the Raiders game against Porter was wiped out due to lightning.

Coach Chris Babin understands how tough their game with PNG will be, but also knows his team had their chances in last season's battle.
