Central forfeits win over Ozen and misses playoffs

The Central football team has admitted to using an ineligible player for the first three games of the District 22-5A season.   The Jags lost the first two games to Memorial and Vidor, but then beat Ozen 49-14.

The District Executive Committee meeting in Vidor on Friday morning ruled the Jags must forfeit that win over the Panthers 1-0.  So Central's record drops to 3-4, eliminating them from the playoff chase.

BISD issued the following statement over the matter.

"It was discovered that a student athlete at Central Medical Magnet High School was one half credit short of eligibility. The District Executive Committee met and it was determined that Central High School will forfeit the game against Ozen High School and therefore will be ineligible for playoffs."

Nederland gets the final spot from 22-5A in Division I, along with Memorial.  Vidor and PNG will represent the league in the 5A Division II playoffs.

Central closes out their season Saturday afternoon at 2 PM at the Thomas Center against Baytown Lee.
