Deweyville set for district after winning YMBL

Lady Pirates take 2nd straight YMBL championship

The Deweyville Lady Pirates took home their second straight YMBL small school volleyball championship over the weeekend, defeating former district rival Hardin in the finals.

The Lady Pirates now get ready to take on Hull-Daisetta in their district opener next Tuesday September 20.

Madiyson Berry, Brooke Smith and Gabby Dupuy were named to the all-tournament team, while Kennidee Willis was named the MVP.

Deweyville is now 18-10 for the season against a tough schedule against bigger teams.

This year they drop down to Class 2A and are looking to make a deeper run in the playoffs after posting the school's first ever playoff victory last season, on their way to a 35-5 record.
