UNIVERSAL CITY, TEXAS -- A 6-year-old girl who was hit by a Judson Independent School District bus has died.
A Judson ISD spokesperson confirms the little girl died after being hit near Loop 1604 and Kitty Hawk about 6:30 a.m.
The accident happened at the Avana Grove apartment complex.
A UCPD spokesperson says the girl may have been running late for the school bus. Investigators believe she may have tripped and fallen under the tire of the bus.
Police added the relative who was with the girl tried to flag down other drivers for help, but no one stopped. He then scooped the little girl up and took her back to an apartment where she died.
At a morning press conference to discuss the tragic accident, officials stated there were approximately 15 students on the bus when the girl was hit. Police did not expect to file charges.
The girl's identity has not been released. She is a kindergarten student at Coronado Village Elementary School, according to a spokesperson for the Judson school district
