Port Arthur police say Jermaine Champs used advanced torture techniques against a woman they say he kept locked in his home for five weeks.
Investigators believe he's done this before, and one woman says she's proof of that.
She asked 12News HD to conceal her identity, so we are calling her "Kay".
In an exclusive interview, Kay told us she was in a relationship with Champs.
She says she left him after two years of abuse, and then returned. When she went back to him, she says he locked her in their trailer home for three weeks.
She eventually escaped, when Champs let his guard down, and the door of the trailer home unsecured. She ran half-a-mile to a nearby credit union on Twin City Highway, she was only wearing a nightgown, was barefoot and had a black eye.
Champs only served six months in jail for a misdemeanor charge of family assault. Kay says she suffers a lifetime of pain with a permanently damaged ear, and continues to have nightmares.
She had to spend three years away from Southeast Texas and from her children. She had to leave the area for her safety.
But Kay has returned and she hopes her story helps this latest victim, and that Champs is locked away for a long time.
Kay is scheduled to give a statement to Port Arthur police on Wednesday.
