A man police say robbed a woman at a South Beaumont ATM was arrested within minutes of the robbery.
Around 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 42, was taking money out of her account using a Chase Bank ATM located at 995 Washington. When she walked back to her vehicle, a man confronted her in the parking lot, pulled out a knife, and demanded money. The victim gave the robber the cash and he ran away.
A police spokesperson said the victim was not physically injured during the robbery.
Officers quickly arrived in the area and found a man matching the description of the robber. The man also had the exact amount of cash on him that was taken in the robbery. The victim then positively identified the man as the one who had robbed her.
Officers identified the man as Randy Kirkwood, 55, of Beaumont. He was taken to the police station where he gave a voluntary statement to detectives. Officers then took him to the Jefferson County jail and booked him in for one charge of aggravated robbery.
Judge Giblin set a bond of $50,000. Kirkwood is still in the county jail at this time.
