Deputies saw the dog, covered in blood. They shot at the animal and it fled briefly, but returned at charged at deputies. They reportedly fired at least two more shots at the dog. They believe they wounded it, but they not certain.

Authorities are searching for the dog and cautioning residents to be on the lookout and keep children indoors. The dog is described vaguely as a large, long-haired dog, similar in body style to a Labrador. It's believed to be black, with a white spot on its chest. The dog has blood on its face.
