Woman charged in death of Sour Lake man

A woman is facing a murder charge for the death of a Sour Lake man whose death was originally thought to have been accidental.

A Jefferson County grand jury Thursday handed up a one-count murder indictment against Alexis Mariah Abbott charging her in the death of William Schroeder.

Schroeder was found dead November 1, 2012 in a hotel room in the 3700 block of college Street in Beaumont.  An autopsy showed that Schroeder had overdosed, but investigators found evidence that led them believe his death was a homicide.

Abbott is scheduled for an initial court appearance before 252nd Criminal District Court Judge Layne Walker.

Court records show Ryan Matuska as Abbott's attorney.
