WO-S Senior dies after home burglary

Orange police say an Orange man, who died after being found bleeding in the middle of a street Wednesday night, cut himself on a window during a home burglary.

Devin Walker was found just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of 6th street and W. Cherry Avenue.

Police say Walker was involved in that burglary and cut a main artery in his leg on broken glass.

Captain Cliff Hargrave tells 12News the West Orange-Stark High School senior was exiting a second story window that was broken when he cut his leg and began bleeding heavily.

He was fighting for his life at the intersection when police arrived on the scene.

"The whole thing was a crime scene. They had everything taped off," says neighbor, David Kovar.

Kovar arrived home Wednesday night to the lights and sirens.

"They said we had to go inside and stay inside," he says.

Police say there was a blood trail that led police from Walker's body to the home.

Kovar says this crime scene is routine in his neighborhood.

"Somebody got robbed down the road while that was going on and I was laying in bed the other night and over there, I heard 5, 6 shots pop off," he says.

Police say there may be others involved in the burglary and that they expect to make several arrests.

Walker was expected to graduate on June 7 from West Orange-Stark. Extra counselors were at the school Thursday helping students cope with the loss of their classmate.
