UPDATE: Police release new information in apparent murder-suicide investigation

New information released in apparent Port Arthur murder-suicide.

A spokesperson for the Port Arthur Police Department has released more information about the shooting death of a couple found dead in their home Saturday.

Port Arthur Police Chief Mark Blanton Monday said it is believed that Jimmie Jenkinson, 46, shot his wife Angelique Jenkinson, 44, in the head. He then shot himself in the chest with the same gun.

The investigation began after officers were called to the couple's home in the 2800 block of Beldon Drive around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.  Mrs. Jenkinson was supposed to help a friend move.  When she didn't show up, the friend called police to check on her.

Evidence at the scene indicated that the shooting had happened sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.

What caused the incident is still under investigation.

Angelique's maiden name was Costilow. She was a well-known former realtor in the Mid-County area. She leaves behind two sons.

Jimmie once worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He leaves behind one daughter.

The couple had no children together.

An autopsy was performed Sunday. Results are pending.
