TxDOT patrolling for icy conditions, prepared to spread deicing material

The Texas Department of Transportation is in full force, prepared to make roads as safe as possible during icy conditions Friday morning. 

TxDOT is patrolling counties in Southeast Texas and spreading deicing material where it's needed. 

TxDOT has been preparing for conditions for two days now. And started spreading the material in some counties as early as nine last night

TxDOT also wants drivers to be remember Friday morning to reduce your speed and don't use cruise control. 

Maintain three times the normal following distance. And if you start to slide, ease off the gas pedal or brakes

Steer in the direction of the skid until you regain traction and then straighten your vehicle. 

A 7:45 a.m. flight out of the Jack Brooks Regional Airport has been canceled due to the weather. A flight meant to arrive at 9:10 p.m. Thursday was also canceled.
