Two arrested on drug charges after Orange County traffic stop

Two men were arrested Tuesday evening after a traffic stop in Orange in which deputies found drugs in their truck, an Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

Around 8:45 p.m. detectives with the Orange County Special Services Division were in the 2600 block of S. Lutcher in Orange when they saw a Dodge truck with a defective light.

The detectives pulled the truck over at a gas station in the 2300 block of S. Lutcher.

The driver, identified as Justin Keith Martin, 26, of Orange, did not have a license with him and he was detained.

Deputies searched the truck and found 25 grams of methamphetamine.

Martin, and a man who was in the truck with him, identified as John Mason Edwards, 26, of Bridge City, were both arrested and taken to the Orange County jail.

Orange County Justice of the Peace Judge David Peck arraigned both men at 8:45 a.m.  Wednesday. Bond for each man is set at $50,000 each.

Sheriff Keith Merritt said that the Orange County Sheriff's Office will continue to target individuals who sell, distribute, or use drugs in Orange County, and will use all resources available to get drugs out of the community.
