SAN ANTONIO - Summer is the busiest time for area theme parks, but the fun families experience can quickly turn to anger when crooks strike.
In June, KENS 5 reported burglars broke into four vehicles in one weekend.
This week, another family contacted us and said their car was targeted over the weekend.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, six vehicle burglaries were reported on June 25 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
Two vehicle burglaries and two vehicle thefts were also reported on Sunday.
On June 15 and 25, vehicle thefts were reported.
The latest burglary victim told KENS 5 he paid $20 and parked in front of a guard tower, but that didn't stop a thief from taking items he hid in his car.
KENS 5 requested an on-camera interview with a spokesperson for Fiesta Texas, but received the following statement:
"In addition to our own comprehensive security procedures, we also work very closely with the San Antonio Police Department. As these unfortunate incidents have been turned over to the local authorities, we have no additional information to offer," said Sydne Purvis, spokeswoman for Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
While at the park, KENS 5 did notice more security in the parking lot. However, it's unclear whether that's intentional because of the holiday or the continued reports of problems.
Because you can't count on security to make sure every vehicle will be safe, you can take precautions to avoid being targeted. If you have a personal item of value, your best bet is to leave it at home or in your hotel.
