Teen touches hundreds in surrounding communities

Many in the Tyler and Hardin County communities are preparing to attend funeral services this week for a popular student of Warren High School.

Larry Jones was killed in a wreck Monday on FM 92 in Tyler County.

L.J. as he was known to friends was ranked in the top four in his class and was planning to pursue a chemical engineering degree at Texas A&M in the fall.

He was active in the high school band and Future Farmers of America.
"L.J. was a kid often in the background but a servant. He was steady, loved other people. He cared about the less fortunate," Good Samaritan Fellowship Pastor Robert Moore said of the teen.

A&M was scheduled to interview L.J. this week for an academic scholarship. A representative with the college will be at L.J's funeral.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and his funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. Both will be at Broussard's Mortuary on Cemetery road in Silsbee.
