SUNRISE, Fla. - A teenager was stabbed in the chest and another was arrested Thursday morning at Piper High School in Sunrise.
Police said the stabbing occurred at the school gymnasium.
The student was conscious and talking to paramedics when he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said the student was listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Runcie said the altercation was between two students, but he didn't know what it was about. He said no other students were involved.
Last week, a fight between two students at the school ended with one boy in the hospital and another in jail.
Piper High School senior Kimyah Henderson said she's noticed an increase in violence.
"I really think they need, like, more security," Henderson said.
Runcie said the school was safe.
