TDA investigation clears Vidor gas station of any wrongdoing

The Texas Department of Agriculture has cleared a Vidor gas station that was accused of filling its premium tanks with unleaded gasoline. The TDA started investigating the Super Stop #4 on the 2500 block of North Main Street after receiving a complaint along with cell phone video.

The video shows the gas station owner placing a gasoline nozzle into an underground tank. The owner told 12News he was doing regular maintenance at the time. But the person who captured the video believes otherwise.

"I think it's false. It's wrong because he should've been fined for what he was doing, caught on tape, but apparently they're not going to do anything to him for that," Sissy Darden said.

Darden captured the video on her cell phone on May 2. Despite the final report, Darden plans to continue watching the gas station and filming anything she considers suspicious activity.

A TDA spokesperson says the gas station owner was flushing out his tank and wants to begin selling diesel fuel. The TDA is still asking anyone who might have bought premium gasoline from the gas station in recent months to provide evidence to their office. The agency can be contacted at 1-800-835-5832.
