TCEQ never received proposal for Bridge CIty's $1.4M water filtration system

BRIDGE CITY - The $1.4 million water filtration system that the City of Bridge city has almost completed has not been approved by the State of Texas.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has yet to receive a proposal for the new filtration system in Bridge City according to a statement from TCEQ.

TCEQ staff spoke with the City of Bridge City on August 23, 2016, about TCEQ requirements for approval of filtration systems and explained the submittal process to the engineer and notified the city that they would continue to work with them once the submittal was received according to a statement from TCEQ.

A phone call from 12News to the city manager alerted him that a proposal had not been submitted.

The engineering firm, Action Engineering, contracted by the City of Bridge City didn't think a proposal needed to be submitted to TCEQ Bridge City city manager Jerry Jones told 12News.

Engineers at the firm contacted TCEQ on Thursday and learned they would need to submit a proposal Jones said.

The engineers will be submitting the proposal on Friday and expect to hear back from TCEQ in a few days Jones said.
