BEAUMONT, TX, – The Texas Strikers take on the formidable Dallas Sidekicks this Saturday. Doors open at 6 PM and the game begins at 7:05 PM.
It was a tough homecoming for the Strikers coming off their recent road games last Saturday night against Hidalgo at Ford Arena in Beaumont, TX. Hidalgo jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with goals by Edgar Flores, Juan Jalomo, Armando Teran and Angel Sanchez. The Strikers were able to end the first quarter with a goal by Henrique Sousa, assisted by Alejandro Calderon. Hidalgo's Edgar Flores responded before the end of the quarter with his third goal of the quarter.
Hidalgo continued their scoring in the second with goals by Mark Ughy, Carlos Farias, and Edgar Flores completing a first half with 4 personal goals. The Strikers ended the scoring in the half with a pretty two on one counterattack goal by Cree Bradford that was assisted by Alex Luna. Going into the half, Hidalgo led the Strikers 9-2.
The Strikers came out in the third quarter playing excellent defense and held Hidalgo scoreless until a power play opportunity allowed Hidalgo to score with 6:27 left in the quarter scored by Carlos Farias. The Strikers responded immediately when Derek Cruz scored his first of the game off the assist by Henrique Sousa to close the gap to 10-2 Hidalgo at the end of the third.
Robson de Sousa of Hidalgo found the net early on in the fourth to extend the lead even more before Henrique Sousa continued their scoring of a single goal per quarter. The rest of the scoring went to Hidalgo who scored four more goals by Robson de Sousa, Armando Teran, Edgar Flores, and Angel Sanchez, ending the long night for the Strikers who lost by a score of 15-4.
