More than 92,000 jobs have been created in Texas so far this year but that hasn't helped southeast Texas.
The unemployment rate is up across the Golden Triangle in May compared April.
Statewide, the rate remained steady at 8%.
Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Tom Pauken says Texas continues to weather storm despite the national unemployment rate edging up.
In Beaumont, the May unemployment rate was 11% compared to 10.6% in April and 10.4% a year ago.
In Port Arthur the May rate was 16% compared to 15.7% in April and 13.8% from a year ago.
In Orange the May unemployment rate was 11.1% compared to 10.6% in April and 10.3% percent from a year ago.
