Sheriff's office asking for information on 'sparkler bomb'

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office told 12News that deputies are looking for the person responsible for setting off a home-made bomb.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a call concerning a possible explosion in the 1000 block of Pine Cove Lane in Vidor. When deputies arrived they talked to the person who made the call.  He said he was inside his home when he heard a loud boom outside. When he went outside he noticed a hole in his yard which had apparently been caused when the device exploded. He also said that the windshield of his truck was cracked as a result of the explosion.

Upon investigation it was determined that the explosion had been caused by a "sparkler" bomb. Pieces of the device were located near the hole in the yard. No one was injured as a result of the blast.

Deputies ask anyone with information that could help investigators find the people responsible to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office at 409-883-2612.

No arrests have been made and this investigation is ongoing.
