Sharice Fontenot has been selected as the first 12News HD Star Student of the 2012-2013 school year.
This senior at Vidor High School keeps up with all her academics and a pretty busy schedule.
Fontenot is President of the Vidor High School Interact Club, B.B.A.D Big Buck Against Drinking and Drugs, History Club and is a member of the National Honor Society.
She has played in band for seven years and has a love for community service.
In April, Sharice helped create Vidor High School's first Intertact Club which is a high school version of the Rotary Club.
"It's about just giving back to people who just need a helping hand, it' about helping anyone in need," said Fontenot describing the purpose of Interact.
Throughout the summer Vidor I.S.D.'s Coordinator of Community Relations Sally Andrews worked closely with Sharice on a summer reading program as they read stories to less fortunate children in the area.
"She's a super achiever and yet she has a heart for service for other people and you know that gets you a long way in the world when you take the time to stop and do something for someone else and she does that," said Andrews.
After graduation Sharice hopes to pursue her passions in music and giving to the community.
