Late Monday afternoon, a settlement was reached in the lawsuit connected to last year's Thanksgiving day pile-up.
The family of Debra and Vincent Leggio were suing the truck driver that crashed into the back of the Leggio's suburban in foggy conditions that morning. The Pearland couple died instantly. Their three children were also suing the trucking company.
Although fog played a factor in the massive wreck that day, attorneys for the Leggio family say the truck driver's speed was the primary cause.
The trial started last Monday, and testimony had just wrapped up when the settlement was reached.
It's being called record-breaking, and the Leggio family attorney says they're extremely satisfied.
"They stood up for their parents and it resulted, within the context of lawsuit, in a good result," said Leggio family attorney Chip Ferguson.
Lawyers tell us as part of the settlement agreement, the amount awarded to the Leggio family cannot be disclosed.
