Robber and manager fire handguns in Beaumont robbery

Police say a robber is in jail after his confrontation with a manager who had two guns of her own.  Officers say Isaiah Rideaux, 42, of Beaumont, is  charged with aggravated robbery and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The robbery happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday at A&E Billiards in the 1700 block of College Street in Beaumont.  The manager told police that Rideaux came into the business, pulled a handgun and demanded money.   The manager, who has a concealed carry permit, attempted to draw her own pistol.  Rideaux stopped her by pointing his weapon at the her face.  He then disarmed her.

The manager and Rideaux began to fight.  Rideaux fired a shot at the floor and ordered the manager to the ground. She told him the money was in the back, so he told her to get it.  She went to the back of the business and got a bank bag and a second gun she had hidden.

She returned to the front of the business and handed him the bank bag.  Rideaux made her get down on the floor.  He then checked the contents of the bag and started to run.  The manager got to her feet, chased after him and fired 2 shots as he was running from the scene.  Both shots missed.  She immediately called police.

Rideaux was located a few blocks away by Beaumont Police officers who also recovered the money and two handguns. No one was seriously injured in the incident.
