Rescue workers unable to save unresponsive infant

Officials are awaiting results of an autopsy following the death of an infant in Orange.

A police spokesperson said that around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday officers and medics were dispatched to an apartment located in the 2600 block of Alley Payne Road for an unresponsive child.

Fire Department rescue workers were tending to the baby on the living room floor when officers arrived. An ambulance with Acadian EMS arrived and the child was brought to the ambulance in the parking lot, but efforts to save the young life were unsuccessful.

The child was pronounced deceased by Orange County Precinct four Justice of the Peace Judge Rodney Price.

No other information has been released by officials.
