Public gets vocal about Central halftime show, bring up West Brook Pep rally

The Beaumont Independent School District has confirmed that West Brook High School students performed a skit where a student dressed in a monkey suit chased around a student dressed as a banana.  The district would not confirm if the skit was related to a bet between West Brook football coaches.

The story was uncovered during Thursday's board meeting when two men approached the board and complained that Central High School's band controversy was gaining too much attention.

The Central High School band performed a political skit during last Saturday's halftime that receiving complaints from people who believed it was biased.

A man named David Pete brought up what he believed was a bigger matter and said the coaches supposedly bet on a which black coach would be the first to grab a banana from a fruit basket in the field house.

B.I.S.D. Trustee Terry Williams asked Superintendent for a full report on both the pep rally and the alleged bet.

During the meeting, Dr. Chargois alluded to the fact that an investigation was ongoing into the matter with the coaches.
