The City of Port Arthur Wednesday announced it is suspending fixed route bus service due to safety concerns.
A statement issued by the city says the suspension of bus service is effective immediately.
Interim City Manager John Comeaux tells 12News HD city buses have had fires over the past couple months. The latest fire was a few days ago. Because of this the city has suspended the bus routes.
Comeaux says the buses are fueled by propane and this is a cause for concern when it comes to fire because it could lead to catastrophic problems.
Comeaux did not know how long the suspension would last.
