Port Arthur man faces robbery charge for trying to steal sister's purse

A spokesperson for the Port Arthur Police Department Saturday said a man assaulted his sister during a struggle to steal her purse.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of  15th Street around 3 p.m. Saturday in reference to the assault. The spokesperson said that another family member tried to stop the attack, but was unable to subdue the suspect.  He said the suspect was stabbed during the struggle.

The brother, who has not been identified by police, was taken to a hospital with a minor injury and released. He was then taken to the Jefferson County jail and booked on a robbery charge.
