The Port Arthur Independent School District Thursday voted 4-3 for the proposed termination of teacher Ruby Gunner.

Gunner is a teacher who has been with the Port Arthur Independent School District for 40 years. She is facing charges of injury to a child after she was accused of pushing, punching and choking an 11-year-old boy at Robert E. Lee Elementary in April of last year.

In an exclusive interview with 12News last May, Gunner said she was acting in self-defense after the boy attacked her twice; first pushing her, then kicking her in the stomach.

Gunner has 15 days to appeal the termination.
