Police say man admits to stealing $8K from Jasper band booster club

Jasper police say a member of the high school's band booster club is charged with felony theft after almost $8,000 went missing.

Detective Garrett Foster told 12News Club Treasurer Jimmy Galvan confessed to the crime when questioned. Foster says the investigation began when students started reporting that their scholarship checks were not clearing the bank.

Our partners at the Beaumont Enterprise report Galvan has been suspended from his job as editor of the Jasper Newsboy.
