HOUSTON - Four people were killed while heading home from a graduation party, after a driver ran a red light in Southwest Harris County Sunday night.
Harris County Sheriff's deputies the taxi company was behind the wheel of a van when he ran a red light at the intersection of Beechnut Street and Synott Road.
According to investigators, the van smashed into a car that was carrying five people.
The driver of that car and three passengers died at the scene of the crash. The fifth passenger was taken to the hospital in stable condition, and was expected to survive.
All of the victims in the crash were between 60 and 80 years old.
Officers gave the driver of the van a field sobriety test, which he failed. He wasn't injured in the crash.
The driver of the van was charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter.
