Emotions are raw as family and friends gather outside a Port Arthur home that's just a block away from the home of Anna Tran, a 33-year-old mother of three, who was shot to death in what investigators have ruled a murder-suicide.
"We don't know what happened; all we know is she's not with us right now," said Kyle Tran, who flew home from Washington state to Port Arthur after receiving the tragic news. "Have a prayer for my sister. It really means a lot."
Neighbors who live in the 3400 block of 8th Street tell 12 News HD that it was about 10 p.m. Monday, when they looked out their front door and saw about a dozen police officers breaking through Tran's front door.
Inside a bedroom investigators found the bodies of Tran as well as 52-year-old Vinh Le of Groves.
Police say the two were in some type of relationship.
Tran was shot in the head before the Groves man turned the gun on himself, according to investigators.
Right now, police aren't sure when the shooting took place but next door neighbor, Luther Gibson told 12 News HD that he and Anna's son are best friends.
On Monday afternoon, Gibson knocked on the Tran's front door but no one answered.
"She treated me as if I were one of her sons," he said. "I respected her a lot."
