BEAUMONT - It was a day out at the park this Labor Day, even with the backdrop of rain clouds for some in Beaumont.
“Well, when we first headed out here,” said Lasha Turner from Vidor, “it was sprinkling on and off.”
She and her boys were out at Collier’s Ferry Park off Pine St. next to the Neches River in Beaumont.
“It's starting to thunder now, and it's a little bit of lightning so we're hanging out here on the dock for a second."
The park was closed after the March flood, but it is now open and proving to be popular among families.
Across the city, Christina Rains got the kids out to take pictures at Tyrrell Park.
“Cause my husband was off to help me,” Rains said with a laugh.
For many, it is the last big grill and “splash” of summer.
