Parent dislikes Facebook posting made by teacher's aide

Cynthia Green says there's not much to like about a Facebook posting made by her 14-year-old's teacher's aide.

She described it as unprofessional.

Green's son is a student at Austin Middle School in Beaumont.  He's in the A.B. unit, which is for students with disciplinary issues and other special needs.

His teacher's aide there is Kennis Edwards, who seemed to have had a bad day at school, when he made his post on Facebook.

He posted, "If your child is in the A.B. unit at any school, you really need to find out what is it you as the parent went wrong and fix it."

He went on to post, "Most of the kids in her have no fathers and they are being rewarded for acting like a bunch of 'expletive' fools."

Green complained to the Beaumont Independent School District, and it suspended Edwards, pending an investigation.

Green believes Edwards should be fired, especially since she claims the controversial post was made while he was at work.

Edwards is unapologetic, he told us, "If my opinion shook a nerve with them, it is what it is."  But he admits he doesn't want to lose his job.  He says working with children is what he does.
