Embattled Port Arthur Independent School District teacher Ruby Gunner said she is considering suing the school district. This comes after a hearing officer's decision to recommend Gunner's contract not be renewed.
In March, a Jefferson County jury acquitted Gunner of injury to a child.
She was accused of assaulting an 11-year-old student at Lee Elementary, but Gunner maintained she was acting in self defense after the boy kicked her in the stomach.
Gunner appealed the school board's decision not to renew her contract, and a hearing was held earlier this month.
The hearing officer, Larry Simmons, is backing the board's initial decision. Board members will still have to vote again before it becomes official.
Gunner told 12News she will not appeal again, but has not ruled out a civil lawsuit.
