The Port Arthur Independent School board is set to vote on accepting the resignation of superintendent, Dr. Johnny Brown.
Last week, Brown confirmed a 12News story in which we were the first to report he was considering an early exit.
Last month, Brown told the board of trustees he would not renew his contract when it ended in September of 2014.
Brown told us Friday there were several opportunities available for him and his family that could have him wanting out earlier than next year.
Monday afternoon, PAISD released an agenda for a special meeting to be held on Thursday. The only action item was to consider and, if appropriate, accept resignation and approve a separation agreement with the superintendent.
Sources tell 12News, buying out Dr. Brown's contract would cost $250,000.
