PA gang member indicted for punching elderly woman in face, stealing purse

A man Port Arthur police say is a gang member who terrorized elderly women was indicted this week for a December attack on a woman in the parking lot of the HEB store on Gulfway Drive.

The Grand Jury this week handed up one count of robbery against Jose Buendia, 21, of Port Arthur.

Police say Buendia struck a 64-year-old woman in the face several times before taking her purse and running away.

According to 12News file stories, Buendia is also a person of interest in a similar crime in Groves where a woman was hit and robbed at the HEB Twin City Highway.

Police say Buendia is a member of the 5-2 Hoova gang.
