P.A.I.S.D. releases no new details on Superintendent's absence.

The Port Arthur Independent School District evaluated its Superintendent's job performance in his absence Tuesday night.

During Tuesday's board meeting, P.A.I.S.D. trustees went into a closed meeting to discuss the performance and job duties of Superintendent Doctor Johnny Brown. The board was in closed session for an hour and a half before returning for a public meeting at 7 p.m.

There was no public discussion on Dr. Brown's evaluation and there was no action taken.

12 News asked Dr Porterie and Trustee Gregory Flores for comment but they directed Reporter Agustine Garfiasto school district attorney Melody Chappell.

Chappell released no new details on Dr. Brown's status or whereabouts.

But Board President Lloyd Marie Johnson did promise parents that the district is in good hands under Dr. Porterie's supervision.

Johnson says she is unaware of Dr. Brown's whereabouts and does not know if or when he will return to work.

Chappell did say that the situation should be resolved soon but would not say any more.

The Texas Education Agency says it is not investigating but is aware of a situation involving Port Arthur I.S.D.

The TEA says that this is a personnel matter, and cannot be discussed at this time.
