Orange man arrested for firing rifle at McDonald's

A man from Orange is in jail after police say he fired three rounds from a rifle near the McDonald's on Highway 62 S. in Orange.

Orange police Captain G.D. Keaton said officers were dispatched to the McDonald's around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in reference to a man believed to be carrying a rifle. Witnesses gave a description and said the man had fired three shots.

Photos provided to 12News show at least two windows of the restaurant were blown out. No one is reported to have been hit.
Officers found the man, identified by police as Chauncey David Miller, 39, of Orange, at a home in the 300 block of Happy Home Drive. The weapon believed to be used in the shooting was also found at the home, according to Officer Keaton.

Miller is charged with deadly conduct, a 3rd degree felony, and is in custody at the Orange County Jail. His bond has been set at $10,000.

Officer Keaton said the investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Orange Police Detective Division.
