One arrested after homeowner shoots out tires of suspected thieves

One person was arrested in Orange County while authorities continue to look for another after a homeowner confronted the two attempting to rob his shop.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department says it happened Tuesday night at about 10:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of Lakeview Cutoff in Vidor. Deputies say a man heard a truck in his yard and went outside with his gun after he called 911.

Authorities say he confronted a man and a woman and tried to hold them both at the scene. The man, 40-year-old Cecil Mitchell of Vidor got into the truck and fled, leaving the woman, 45-year-old Sabrina Pantely also of Vidor, at the scene. Police say the homeowner shot out two tires on Mitchell's truck as he drove away, but was still able to get away.

Deputies found a bolt cutter on the scene and found two locks to the garage cut open.

Pantely was arrested for attempted burglary of a building and transported to the Orange County Jail. Bond was set at $2500. Mitchell is still on the loose and was not located. Charges are currently pending on Mitchell.
