No injuries after woman fires shot in air during Beaumont EMS call

BEAUMONT - No one was injured when a woman fired a handgun during a Beaumont EMS call in the city;s South end Monday.

Police received a call for assistance from EMS who reported that a stroke victim had a gun and that "shots had been fired" according to Beaumont Police spokesperson Officer Carol Riley.

Beaumont EMS medics responded to a call in the 1600 block of Highland Dr. and later notified police that shots had been fired Riley said.

When EMS arrived a husband and wife had been arguing and the husband was having difficulty breathing officers on the scene tell 12News.

While EMS was there the wife went to the back of the home, got a handgun and fired one shot into the air officers said.

No one was hurt in the shooting and the woman's medical condition is also being checked according to officers.

Officers are now looking for the gun which they believe she may have hidden.
